Development Trust advertises more vacancies
Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre Development Trust is now advertising for two, part-time "Loft
Emptiers/Workers".
The vacancies have arisen as the Development Trust enters "Phase 2" of its Affordable Warmth
Project, which was awarded £39,798 from the government-funded Climate Challenge Fund
last year, and aims to improve energy efficiency on the three islands, including the use of
improved insulation.
Starting on 15 June 2010, the successful candidates will each receive £10 per hour,
working for a minimum of 4 weeks (in June/July). Flexible working hours, on an 'ad hoc'
basis, may be required, up until 31 October 2010.
The jobs involve liasing with the Development Trust's Community Powerdown Officer, Michelle
Koster, to both assess and empty lofts and other roof spaces, with the specific duties as
follows:
- Climbing ladders
- Working at heights
- Entering loft hatches
- Working in confined spaces
- Manual handling of potentially heavy and awkward loads
- Safe loading of vehicles
- Driving a transit-type van
Candidates should fulfill the following criteria:
- Enthusiastic
- Polite
- Self-Motivated
- Flexible
- Ability to work with minimum supervision
- Experience of communicating effectively with people of all levels
- Keen to be involved in the development of our community
- Willing to support the aims of the Development Trust
- Based on Rousay, Egilsay or Wyre
Health and Safety training will be provided to the successful applicant.
